A local connection. A wider perspective.
I’m Kristian Ferris, the person behind Unique Aspect. The Chamonix Valley is my base, with mountain walking, trail running and a curiosity about the landscape at the heart of what I’m building.
Living and working in the valley
Local knowledge starts with listening.
Around ten years of chalet management, resort management and guest service in the Chamonix Valley has given me a practical understanding of how people want to spend their time here.
Some visitors arrive with a detailed plan. Others want help finding a starting point. I enjoy understanding what matters to each group, from a manageable day outside to the right base for a stay.
My own walking, Alpine and trail-running experience informs those conversations. When a professional mountain activity is wanted, I make an introduction to an independent leader.

Remaining winter requirements
I am completing the remaining winter qualification requirements. I am not yet a fully qualified International Mountain Leader.
Today, I offer local knowledge, introductions and retreat hosting. Independent professionals lead the running, coaching and other specialist sessions. I may shadow them; I do not currently lead or teach those sessions.
The mountain is not a competition.
Inclusive mountain access is part of the Unique Aspect approach. A short outing, an adapted day or time watching wildlife can matter as much as a long route.
Why ‘Unique Aspect’?
A change of perspective changes the day.
In the mountains, aspect is the direction a slope faces. It changes the light, the conditions and the character of a place. The same landscape can offer a very different experience from another side.
That idea sits behind Unique Aspect: look at the people, the season and the details before choosing the obvious route. Notice the quieter parts of a journey as well as the big view.
