Mountain journey first

The ascent is part
of the experience.

Rather than taking a lift to a launch site, the idea is to spend the morning and part of the afternoon walking through the mountains.

Climb gradually, notice the changing landscape and leave time for wildlife, a break and the views. The route and pace would be planned around the group and the possible flight.

At the agreed launch area, the plan is to meet an independent tandem paragliding professional. After their preparation and briefing, and only if they judge conditions suitable, the journey changes.

The mountain you have spent the day walking through becomes the landscape beneath you.

The day

From the trail to the air.

An illustrative day, with room for the group, the landscape and the conditions.

  1. 01 / Ground

    Meet in the valley.

Begin in the Chamonix Valley, with a planned walk suited to the group and a clear idea of the day ahead.

  2. 02 / Ascent

Walk up, with time to look.

Move through Alpine terrain, taking regular stops for the landscape, wildlife and changing views. The aim is not to race to a summit.

  3. 03 / High ground

    Pause along the way.

Leave time for lunch or a mountain break before reaching the agreed launch area. A summit is not required for a good day.

  4. 04 / Preparation

    Meet the tandem pilot.

The independent pilot assesses flying conditions and participant suitability, then handles flight preparation and the safety briefing.

  5. 05 / Air

A different view of the valley.

If the pilot confirms the flight can go ahead, launch together and return toward the valley by tandem paraglider.

The mountain, timing, launch area and landing place would depend on the group, conditions and professionals involved. This example is not a fixed itinerary or a promise of a flight.

Why Hike & Fly?

One landscape.
Two perspectives.

The way up matters as much as the way down.

Hike & Fly makes the journey to the launch area part of the day. You gain height on foot and see the landscape change as you climb.

A tandem flight then offers a second perspective on the same mountain: the trail, the forest and the valley seen from above. That change of aspect is at the heart of Unique Aspect.

Who is it for?

A full mountain day to discuss.

Potentially suitable for people who enjoy walking uphill and want to experience the landscape from another angle.

  • Active couples and friends
  • Solo visitors enquiring about a possible day
  • Families with suitable older children
  • Walkers looking for a different way to finish the day
  • People interested in their first tandem paragliding flight
  • Mountain visitors who want time on the trail as well as in the air

Suitability depends on the walking objective, conditions and everyone taking part. Each professional confirms their own participant requirements, including any age or equipment limits.

Two professional elements

A mountain walk.
An independent tandem flight.

The walking journey and the flight involve different professional responsibilities.

The mountain journey

Who provides the walking element, their professional scope and the arrangements for the group still need to be confirmed. This page does not offer a walk led by Kristian.

The tandem flight

The flight would be provided by an appropriately qualified independent tandem paragliding professional. No pilot partnership or flight availability is confirmed by this page.

Hike & Fly is currently an experience in development. Before any bookable offer, the providers, contract and payment arrangements, insurance responsibilities, and cancellation or alternative arrangements must be confirmed. You can enquire now without making a booking or payment.

Room for conditions

The day follows
the mountains.

Good walking conditions do not always mean good flying conditions.

The walking professional would assess the mountain journey. The pilot makes the flight decision. Wind, cloud and changing conditions can mean that a flight cannot go ahead, including after the walk has started.

A walking day may still be possible, but a replacement activity, alternative descent, rescheduling, charges or refund must be agreed in advance. None is automatically included or promised here.

Keeping the plan flexible is part of looking after the day. A flight is never guaranteed.

Taste of the Alps

Make lunch part of the climb.

Bring your own picnic for a pause on the way up, or discuss a refuge stop that suits the route. Timing needs agreement with the activity providers; any flight remains subject to the pilot’s decision and conditions.
